Low Mileage BMW M6 Engine Replacement Supply and Fitting Specialists

BMW’s M6 is famous for combining grand touring luxury with track ready performance. From the first E24 M635CSi to the modern F13 M6 Competition, every generation is powered by a special M engine. Those motors deliver astonishing power, but they also require specialist care. When age, mileage or a mis shift ruins the original motor, replacing it with a quality used or reconditioned BMW M6 engine restores your car’s performance. We are the trusted seller for many BMW M6 owners. BM Engine Works sources low-mileage used engines and completely reconditions them in house. We offer fast turnaround, vehicle recovery service, UK wide delivery, engine supply and fit packages and up to 24-month warranty. Our BMW specialists inspect every BMW engine, replace worn parts and test it thoroughly before it is sold. We help enthusiasts and trade customers across the UK save up to 40% compared with main dealer prices while enjoying worry free driving. Whether you drive a classic E24, a V10 powered E63/E64 or the latest S63 twin turbo F13, our team can supply the right replacement unit for your car and let your M6 get back on the road.

BMW M6 Engine Specs and Sizes

The first modern BMW M6 coupe (E63/E64, built 2005–2011, including 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 models) uses the S85 engine. This naturally aspirated V10 has a displacement of 5.0 litres (4,999 cc), a bore of 92 mm and stroke of 75.2 mm. It produces around 373 kW (507 hp) and 520 Nm (384 lb ft) of torque, with a redline at 8,250 rpm and a fantastic engine sound.

The next generation M6 (F06/F12/F13, built 2012–2018, covering years like 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017) switched to the S63 twin-turbocharged V8. This 4.4 litre engine features two twin scroll turbochargers with a pulse tuned cross engine manifold for continuous exhaust pulses. In the F13 M6, it produces about 560 hp (S63B44T0 variant), while later Competition models reach 567 hp to 591 hp. The S63 engine powers many other M models, including the BMW F10 M5, F12/F13 M6, F90 M5 and M8. BMW improved the engine through updates such as S63TU and S63TU4, which added Valvetronic and higher compression ratios. S63 variants include the S63B44O0 (~553 hp) used in early X5 M and X6 M, the S63B44T2 (~567 hp) used in later M5/M6 models, and the current S63B44T4 (625 hp) found in M5 Competition and M8 models.

Common BMW M6 Engine Problems

Both M6 engines offer exhilarating performance but have known issues. The S85 V10 is prone to premature rod bearing wear. Due to tight tolerances, high revs and limited lubrication, rod bearings can wear at around 80,000 km (≈50,000 miles). Failure to replace them can lead to major engine damage requiring a costly repair. The double VANOS system can also suffer from degraded solenoids and high pressure oil lines, causing erratic performance. Another common issue is throttle actuator failure, where gears inside the actuators wear and cause loss of throttle control. Regular oil changes, preemptive rod bearing replacement and VANOS inspections help preserve engine life.

Expert BMW M6 Engine Rebuild: Book Now!

If your M6 engine has suffered internal damage, a rebuild may be the best option. BM Engine Works offers complete engine rebuilds for the BMW M6. Our rebuild process involves stripping the engine, cleaning all parts and measuring components for wear. We replace worn bearings, pistons and gaskets with OEM parts, with options for a stroker build for increased displacement. We inspect the crankshaft, connecting rods and camshafts. Cylinder heads are skimmed and valves reseated. After assembly, we run the engine on a test rig to ensure proper oil pressure and compression. Rebuilds are performed in house by BMW specialists who have decades of years of experience. We work on S63 V8 engines from F12, F13 and F06 models. A rebuilt engine can restore performance and extend service life at a reasonable price compared to buying a brand new engine. Contact us today to book your BMW M6 engine rebuild.
