The first generation of X1 was popular when released in the market in 2013. It was based on the fifth generation 3-series platform aka E90. This trend continued till 2015. New X1 shares almost similar 2.0-Litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox in standard models. This engine has been claimed to boast an output of 228 horsepower and torque of 258 pound-feet to support it.
Although being less costly in the BMW lineup, this car gives you an excellent driving experience. The car does not give you a hint of bumps on the road and the cabin is peaceful owing to a quite engine under the bonnet. Fuel economy is also good making it a good choice in the long run.
When compared with its predecessor, the new model has significant changes in its dimensions. For instance, the new X1 is 88 pounds lighter than the model it has replaced.
Similarly, a rise of 1.7 inches in height and an increase of 0.9 inch in width can be noted. The wheelbase on the contrary is being chopped off by 3.6 inches.
The company claims to have made certain improvements on the inside of the car as well. The cabin is roomier than before. The legroom for rear seat passengers that was previously congested has been dealt with. It has been increased by 2 inches now providing ample space even for taller passengers. The car seems to have been altered with more space for carrying luggage. Now you can take things along as the cargo space has been increased by 2 cubic feet.
The steering wheel is so easy to handle that it makes driving more of a fun-filled experience. The drive isn’t sporty but does good on bumpy roads. Its dual pane sun roof is an inlet for more air and light for those who like it. Bright inside gives a sense of more room as well. The seats are comfortable than before and higher too giving everyone a great view. Infotainment system consists of a 6.5-inch wide screen that sits elegantly over the instrument panel. It is a traditional BWW iDrive system which is user friendly and easily operable. An 8.8-ich touch screen comes as an option. Owing to its brilliant features, this car is worth a shot.
