BMW has finally introduced the all-new 2002 Hommage concept to take on its own M2 coupe and it will be unveiled at 2016 Villa D’Este car show in Italy. BMW has given its M2 coupe a 50th anniversary present by given itself fast, blue, and bold retro extreme in the form of 2002 Hommage with sheering power delivery from BMW engine works from the front. It is only to honour the small cars on the market offered by the brand.
The all-new 2002 Hommage is not a new model but it a kind of M2 but has been wearing the costume of a relatively new model for the celebrations of its 50th anniversary. The 2002 Hommage model sparked its style to become a leading premium car under the M-Performance badge.
The 2002 Hommage was unveiled last weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este in Italy. Although BMW has not described the powertrain of the new model but it is confirmed that the new model will definitely be using BMW M-Performance engines for sheering performance.
According to the vice president of design at the German automaker, Adrian van Hooydonk, exactly 50 years back, the 02 series was the one who helped the automaker to kick start the new era of success. This compact coupe is one of the cars that were made on the most modern platforms of that era.
At the moment, the all-new 2002 model is riding on the same platform and powered by a same engine as of the M2 coupe. It has a deep front splitter that shapes larger air intakes and shark nosed kidney grille to give it the BMW identification.
